Special Engagement

Etta MaySeptember 11-13

 Etta May

The "Female Stand Up Comedian of the Year", and "Queen of Country Comedy"

What’s the best way to describe Etta May? “Minnie Pearl with a migraine.” To put it simply, when Etta May takes the stage, she is the reigning Queen of Southern Sass. She reflects “You know you’re getting fat when you sit in the bathtub and the water in the toilet rises!”

Etta May won the prestigious American Comedy Awards: “Stand-Up Comic of the Year,” and has appeared on Oprah, Comic Strip Live, MTV, and as a guest commentator on “CBS Sunday Morning.”

Etta May headlines the most successful all female “Southern Fried Chicks Tour”. Selling out theatres all over the country. Think Blue Collar Comedy Tour with better hair! Etta May is also a headline comic on CMT’s “CMT Comedy Stage” which is the second highest rated show in CMT history. The success of the Comedy Stage franchise led to the production of the Southern Fried Chicks Comedy Tour special as the first comedy concert series for the national cable network. She was also the subject and first female comic ever on the biography show, “Comedy Club.” She joins the elite comedy company of Ron White, Larry the Cable Guy and Jeff Foxworthy, who are also featured in this series.

In addition to television, Etta May is a regular on the syndicated Bob & Tom radio show and a regular on XM and Sirius Radio’s comedy channels.

His on-air segments include the outrageous fake entertainment report, "News You Absolutely, Positively, Can't Use" , the “Top Five”, and his newest features; the politically incorrect radio game show “Racial Jeopardy” and “Hip-Hop Translations for the White Listeners”. In addition, he is the solo comedy writer for the morning show, and “go to” guy for on-point political analysis. Multi-talented as a writer, comedian, and personality, he never stops moving ahead in the competitive entertainment business, also tasked as a writer and actor on the TV One sitcom “The Rickey Smiley Show”, and a writer and contributor to Fox TVs’ highly rated nightly show, “DishNation”. As a stand up comedian, he tours clubs and theaters nationally as a headliner and for over 3 years was the house emcee for the country's longest running urban comedy club, Atlanta’s Uptown Comedy Corner. He is preparing a Vol. 2 of “Unfit Parent” a comedy CD of his greatest radio hits. He has a book “100 Problems, 100 Solutions” a wickedly clever, satirical take on advice therapy. Upcoming projects include a comedian-based reality show he’s producing and a traveling road show called “Laugh Therapy”, a love and relationship advice seminar that is truly unique and tremendously effective.
